The glass is always full, 1/2 beer 1/2 air |
After a week of waiting the big day finally arrived yesterday. The seven day bottle conditioning period was extra excruciating because I happened to be working from home last week, staring and waiting for my 50 little babies to carbonate, kind of like watching paint dry in a bottle. I felt like one of those dogs who has that annoying owner who makes them do the balance a biscuit on your nose trick.
Anyways after a week of balancing 50 bottles of beer on my nose it was finally time to crack one open. It looks like beer, smells like beer, it's bubbly like beer and it taste like beer. It seems like my initial foray into the world of home brewing was a success. I even had my Kolsch tasted by an independent third party to confirm its beer resemblance (I couldn’t trust the other blogger's opinion, she would have protected my feelings and said it was good even if my beer tasted like gym socks).
As we begin to drink the first batch, FedEx says my new shipment of ingredients (an IPA) is scheduled to be delivered this afternoon and with any luck I will be brewing again tomorrow. And so continues the circle of inebriated life.
