Napa Valley-themed bridal shower cake |
As explained in a
previous post, I attended a cake decorating course in college and recently bought a few new tools to get back into the craft. What I didn't tell you all was that I already had a plan. A few months ago, I was asked to bake the cake for my friend Jen's bridal shower. I was honored and began my planning immediately. After scouring the Internet for inspiration, I finally assembled an idea of what I thought would be a fitting wine-themed cake (alluding to their exciting honeymoon) that also celebrated Jen and her future hubby Billy. The project came to fruition this weekend at Jen's beautiful Napa Valley themed bridal shower.

I chose a 16'' round cake pan and used this
spicy vanilla chai latte cake recipe with
Wilton's classic vanilla buttercream icing. At some point, I'll elaborate and include a cake decorating tutorial post. For now, enjoy the pictures after the jump!

The bride and her cake! |
When I read the title, I didn't think the idea would work. The cake looks so much better than I thought it would! I'd look at it if it were on display in bridal shops in Las Vegas.
